Cedarwood at the Cathedral

Cedarwood festival is the northern, all-church gathering of all generations and expressions of the church to worship Jesus in unity. 24/7 worship, prayer, mission, community, bible teaching, youth and children’s programs & god encounters! All people, all ages, all welcome!

Ahead of this year’s Cedarwood, the team are organising a series of worship nights at cathedrals in the region. The next will be at Durham Cathedral on Thursday 23rd March, from 7pm.

10 Days of Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come

Christians across the world are coming together for ten days of 24-hour prayer from 10th to 20th May, as part of the Thy Kingdom Come initiative. 

In Durham, churches are staging 250 hours of non-stop prayer at Sanctuary 21, on Saddler Street, DH1 3NU. To sign up for a prayer slot, click here.

There will also be a Beacon event at Durham Cathedral on Sunday 20th May. For more information, click here

In Chester-le-Street, there will be 24 hours of prayer from 7:30pm on Friday 11th May to 7:30pm on Saturday 12th May. The venue is the Cornerstones Centre, at Chester-le-Street Methodist Church, North Burns, DH3 3TF.

Call to Prayer

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have called for a Week of Prayer for the evangelisation of our nation from 8th to 15th May. 

As part of this, there will be six beacon events at the end of the week, one of which will be hosted by Durham Cathedral on Sunday 15th May at 7:00pm.

There will be a video message from Archbishop Welby and worship led by Lou Fellingham. Free tickets can be booked via thykingdom.co.uk

There will also be prayer spaces set up in the Cathedral in the week.
